Lisa Smit
Lisa, Brevard Equestrian Center's owner and fearless leader, is an accomplished rider who has finished through Grand Prix level dressage and earned her Bronze, Silver and Gold USDF medals. She's also done open jumpers, qualified for equitation medal finals and ridden through training level eventing. Lisa hosted her first Special Olympics group in 2022 with 6 riders, only to increase to over 35 in 2023! She looks forward to expanding our Special Olympics team to give everyone a chance to experience the love and joy of horses.

Lillyana Bacon
Lillyana has 13 years of experience in the equestrian world, working as both a rider and a trainer. She currently serves as the Director of Begin Again Equestrian and trains riders for the Special Olympics, a role she finds deeply rewarding. Her discipline of choice is Dressage and aims to reach the Grand Prix level. While she's already made considerable progress towards this goal she remains committed to continuous learning and improvement in her journey.

Krisi Astell
Krisi has been working with horses since 2014. She's been a trainer at Brevard Equestrian Center working with Special Olympics riders frequently since October 2023, even helping some 2023 students make it to Special Olympics States. She loves working with riders of all experience and ability and finds joy in even the smallest of progress. Her disclipine of choice is showjumping.
